About Alphanume
Who we are.
Overview
Alphanume is a data platform focused on building alternative datasets for systematic traders, researchers, and developers.
Our goal is simple: to make datasets that are interesting, actionable, and robust enough to be used in real decision-making.
Our Perspective
Alphanume is built from the perspective of real-world quantitative trading.
That means our work is shaped by practical constraints: liquidity, latency, survivorship bias, point-in-time correctness, and the realities of deploying strategies outside of backtests. We care less about how elegant an idea looks on paper, and more about whether it holds up when exposed to live markets.
This perspective influences everything we publish.
What We Build
We focus on datasets that are:
Derived from real market structure
Cleaned and structured with point-in-time awareness
Designed to be inputs into actual research or production pipelines
Some datasets are conventional. Others are unconventional. Many exist simply because we kept rebuilding them internally and decided they should exist publicly.
If a dataset is here, it’s because we found it useful or because it led to interesting questions worth exploring.
Design Principles
Every dataset published through Alphanume follows a few core principles:
Actionable over academic We prioritize data that can be tested, modeled, or deployed — not just analyzed.
Bias-aware by default Survivorship, lookahead, and selection biases are treated as first-order problems, not footnotes.
Opinionated, but transparent We make deliberate design choices, and we document them. Users should understand how the data was constructed and why.
Built to be used The end goal is not insight for its own sake, but repeatable workflows that hold up under scrutiny.
What Alphanume Is Not
Alphanume is not a signal service, and we don’t sell predictions.
We don’t promise returns, provide trade recommendations, or optimize datasets for marketing appeal. The platform exists to support independent research and decision-making — not to replace it.
A Living Platform
Alphanume is intentionally flexible.
Because we operate our own infrastructure and build from first principles, the scope of what we publish will evolve over time — across asset classes, markets, and data types. If there’s a dataset you wish existed, there’s a good chance we’re interested in building it.
